Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is miserable... and treatable. You don't have to put up with it!
You know what it's like: cramping, bloating, gas, diarrhoea and/or constipation. Maybe it's even worse when you're under pressure, perhaps with an exam or a job interview coming up. You have to watch what you eat and when - and you need to know there's a toilet nearby for when you need it!
Well, there's good news. There's treatment, and it really works. Actually, two types of treatment that have been shown to be effective. One is diet-based, because it's known that FODMAPs (stands for Fermentable, Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides And Polyols) - such foods as fruits, vegetables, breads, cereals, nuts, legumes and lollies - cause stretching of the intestinal gut, which, for anyone with the highly sensitive gut that is IBS, causes pain and discomfort. Cut those down or even out and your symptoms will reduce. (Here's an excellent guide to which foods are FODMAPs.)
The other treatment is a short, gut-focused series of sessions of Hypnotherapy. And there's real, hard evidence that it works, long-term - in fact, it works just as well as a low-FODMAP diet.
How does it work? Well, think about it: if your IBS is affected by stress, anxiety and pressure, then those are psychological factors, evidence that your body is profoundly affected by your state of mind. And state of mind is precisely what Clinical Hypnotherapy works on.
